The outsiders gay

Writer S.E. Hinton drew fire from readers on Twitter after she denied that two of the characters in her classic young adult novel “The Outsiders” were gay.

The novel, which depicts close, caring relationships between poor and rough-around-the-edges teen boys, lends itself particularly well to interpretations of homoeroticism and submerged gay romance.
